Our London team have exciting opportunities on Lower Thames Crossing; a vital and major infrastructure project that is due to be competed around 2028 providing a new crossing connecting Essex and Kent. Located east of Gravesend and Tilbury, this new crossing will offer the improved journeys, new connections and network reliability, and economic benefits.

 

 

Role objective:

 

Overall responsibility for delivery of environment team scope, including schedule, budget, risk/change and resources.

 

 

Responsibilities

 
     
  •  Scope, schedule, budget, risk/change and resources within the work stream/discipline.
  •  
  •  Provide technical direction on environmental design and assessment
  •  
  •  Overall responsibility for deliverables including technical review and engagement with workstreams and relevant environmental consultees.
  •  
  •  Work in a collaborative manner
  •  
  •  Is prepared to commit to the project up to and including DCO examination
  •  
  •  Will be based in Beaufort House five days per week, other than when attending external meetings.
  •  
  •  To deliver parent company project governance requirements as required
  •  
  •  To consider project legacy and in all decision making in the same way as cost, risk and time
  •  
  •  To look for ways to encourage innovative thinking around how to improve legacy benefits
  •  
  •  To hold health, safety and welfare (HSW) as a key project value and to participate in the creation, development and implementation of HSW strategies by the project leadership team
  •

Essential:

 
     
  •  Is a proven environmental professional, i.e., someone with an in-depth knowledge of environmental impact assessment, and not a project manager with a superficial knowledge of environmental matters
  •  
  •  Brings major scheme EIA delivery proven knowledge on highways infrastructure with demonstrable knowledge of DMRB/PCF framework
  •  
  •  Proven ability in delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects and Planning Act
  •  
  •  Expert Witness experience, and proven ability of managing environmental teams during public inquiry / examination or similar
  •  
  •  Is a proven manager of large teams
  •  
  •  Enjoys working in a collaborative manner
  •  
  •  Seasoned environmental professional with a track record of delivering projects to time, cost quality standards across all stages of project lifecycle
  •  
  •  Demonstrable knowledge of successfully working in/adapting the philosophy of a One Team environment within an NEC contract context
  •  
  •  Team oriented leader with the ability to work closely with peers, with the ability to delegate, motivate and empower individuals and teams
  •  
  •  Examples of exercising sound judgement, leading and facilitating decision making on complex issues among multiple parties
  •  
  •  To be able to work across diverse internal and external stakeholders
  •  
  •  Educated to degree standard with a relevant second degree and membership of an appropriate professional body or equivalent work history
  •  
  •  Demonstrable knowledge of working in a major infrastructure project in a similar industry &/or to working in a matrix and dispersed team Skills
  •  
  •  Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
  •  
  •  To influence all levels in an organization to produce timely documents etc.
  •  
  •  Exceptional interpersonal skills and personal resilience to working under stress/different styles of leadership/getting things done
  •  
  •  Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
